The club and spa at Cadbury House has raised enough money during a marathon ‘spinathon’ to help a local school replace a storage facility which was burnt down during a devastating fire earlier in the year.

Taking place on Thursday 24 August, the team alongside members from the popular health club, peddled away for 11 hours to raise funds for Yatton Junior and Infant School which lost a number of classrooms and playground equipment in a fire back in May.

The money means the school can now replace the unit to store play equipment for the children.

Using four of its state-of-the-art ‘spin’ bikes, the spinathon was headed by Jason Eaton, general manager at the health club alongside members of his team. After a number of hours they were then joined or replaced by fitness instructors plus members of the health club.

Jason said: “We had a great response from everyone and I’d like to thank all those who gave up time to take a turn on the spin bikes. To raise such a large amount goes to show how moved everyone has been by the fire at the school.

“The money can now be used to replace some of the areas that were destroyed by the fire and means the school can use other funds for other pieces of equipment vital for the children.”
