The region’s leading health club and spa is planning a marathon spinathon to help raise funds for a local school which suffered a devastating fire earlier in the year.

The team at theclub and spa at Cadbury House in Congresbury is now putting in place plans where four of its state-of-the-art ‘spin’ bikes will be placed in its reception where club members plus the general public will be able to ride for 30-minute slots each costing a minimum of £5.

Taking place on Thursday 24 August, the ride will start at 8am in the morning and finish at 7pm on the same day.

The idea behind the ride is to raise funds for Yatton Junior and Infant School which lost a number of classrooms and playground equipment in a fire back in May. Because of the damage, pupils are having to use portacabins for the 2023 / 24 academic year while the money raised by the club will go towards buying a new play shed and play equipment.

Bosses at the popular health club are now looking forward to welcoming people from across North Somerset to have a go on the spin bikes while helping raise vital funds for the school.

Jason Eaton, general manager at the club said: “It was devastating to hear of the fire and damage to the school. We’ve got quite close connections with the school being only half a mile down the road and meant we all knew someone who has been impacted by the fire so we’re delighted to do something to help.

“Anyone can take part and we’d love to see parents, teachers, our own members plus members of the public pop their name down and have a have a go. They can go as fast or slow as they wish and can book as many 30-minute slots as they like!

“We’re also hoping that anyone who visits during the day will pop any spare change into collection buckets adding to the overall total.”
