Fitness guru, Tom Horton from theclub at Cadbury House continues with his regular advice on keeping fit in 2012.
Here Tom looks at an alternative fitness session that is not only a great supplement to regular trips to the award-winning health club but is guaranteed to put a smile on anyone’s face!
“With the weather taking a regular dip below the zero there is no reason why people’s workouts should do the same.
“There is no excuse for not going to the gym or getting outside for a workout but for those who might skip the odd session can more than make up for it with one of the best workouts of all in the comfort of their own home - ‘sexercise’!!
“I’m not suggesting you drop your gym sessions, swims or classes altogether but added to your normal regime a regular romp between the sheets is regarded by many as being one of the best forms of exercise going!
“Using almost every muscle group you have, it gets the heart and lungs working hard and burns about 300 calories an hour.
“There are also many other health benefits.
“A frolic with your partner boosts mental health with the release of endorphins into the bloodstream and is equivalent to those released when doing other forms of exercise such as jogging, cycling and weight training. Increased production of endorphins will also help make your hair shine and your skin smoother.
“There has also been research published to prove that a workout between the sheets could lead to a better body and a younger look.
“If you're worried about wrinkles, orgasms help prevent frown lines from deepening, as well as releasing “natural painkillers" into the bloodstream, which helps keep mild illnesses like colds and aches and pains at bay.
“And the production of extra oestrogen and testosterone hormones will keep your bones and muscles healthy, leaving you feeling fabulous inside and out.
